This is not controversial as the current format clearly excludes a large portion of "Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding" (Ships Systems) and mistakenly assumes Newport News is the entire Shipbuilding Sector. USAHS Acadia was the first United States Army Hospital Ship in World War II. Built in 1932 by Newport News Shipbuilding as a civilian passenger/cargo ocean liner for the Eastern Steamship Lines, the ship was in US coastal and Caribbean service prior to its acquisition by the US Maritime Administration in 1941.

It is the largest single shipbuilding contract in the service's history. The company builds the submarine along with Huntington Ingalls Industries Newport News Shipbuilding. The boats of Block IV Virginias will cost less than Block III, as Electric Boat reduced the cost of the submarines by increasing efficiency in the construction process.

USS Texas (SSN-775) is a Virginia-class submarine, and the fourth warship of the United States Navy to be named after the US state of Texas.. The contract to build her was awarded to the Northrop Grumman Newport News shipyard (then called Newport News Shipbuilding & Drydock Co.) on 30 September 1998 and her keel was laid down on 12 July 2002. [1]
The keel was laid at Newport News Shipbuilding on 11 October 1975, and on 15 March 1980 the ship was launched/christened. Congressman Carl Vinson became the first person in the history of the United States Navy to witness a ship's launching in his honor. [citation needed] After builder sea trials, she was delivered to the Navy on 26 February 1982.
